First dates can be stressful because both want to ease the tension and have a real conversation. Many think oysters are aphrodisiacs, so they choose them to create a romantic mood.
An Atlanta woman named Equana had an unforgettable oyster-filled first date and decided to share her experience in a viral video.
She arranged to meet a guy she’d been avoiding for a few weeks at Fontaine’s Oyster House in the vibrant Virginia-Highland neighborhood of the city. Equana discovered they had a special deal on Tuesdays, with oysters priced at $15 per dozen, and she intended to make the most of it.
I’m watching this irritated because she was exposing my favorite oyster spot in Atlanta but this wayyyy too funny not to share 😭😭😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/edwpRyztnx

She boldly ordered four dozen oysters and recorded herself on camera as she added lemon juice and Tabasco to the shells and savored each.
i think she’s soooo real for eating 48 oysters and then ordering more food and i also understand why someone would leave after seeing their date eat 48 oysters 😭 i think this was the best possible outcome https://t.co/e5QoSTv3j7

“Y’all, when the fourth [plate] came out, he looked at me crazy. I didn’t give a fuck,” she admitted in the clip. “I’m like, ‘Baby, you invited me out. I’m gonna eat.'”
As it turns out, the four dozen oysters were only the beginning.
She ordered crab cakes and potatoes and enjoyed what seemed to be lemon drop martinis. On the other hand, her date reached its limit, and she chose to exit before things got complicated discreetly.
He informed her he was heading to the restroom and vanished for nearly half an hour, leaving her to realize he had departed.
She found herself responsible for the bill, which covered her food and drinks and his “one drink.”
Later, she shared a screenshot of their text conversation after the date, in which he revealed his initial plans and how things had changed once they arrived at the restaurant.
“I offered to take you out for drinks, and you ordered all that food,” he wrote. “I can Cash App the total for the drinks.”
Following the viral video, the restaurant’s manager, Kelcey Flanagan, chimed in on the seemingly outrageous choice to order 48 oysters.
From her perspective, she mentioned that four dozen of these shellfish don’t even compare to some of the larger orders she’s witnessed.
“This is nothing new for us,” she told Rolling Stone, adding, “It was just quite funny.”
“I’ve had two ladies order six dozen [oysters] each,” she said. “That’s not even the cherry on top—they were drinking white Russians. I didn’t know how to feel about that personally. I was just like, ‘This is insane to me, but okay.'”
Flanagan has also witnessed competitions that led to substantial orders. “Like I had this one guy in an oyster-eating competition and ordered 15 dozen,” she recalled.
Regarding the viral customer, Flanagan commented, “She was nice” to have. She hoped that “she’s not getting too much flak.” Flanagan added, “She had a good time, and, you know, it was just another Tuesday.”
Having a good time on a date is essential, but both people must have an enjoyable experience.
