Ravi Kishan made his debut film in 1992 in the film Pitambar. He came to the limelight when he was a contestant on Bigg Boss and turned out to be the second runner up in the show. In 2008, he received the Most Popular Actor award at the ETV Bhojpuri Cinema Samman 2008 function. Other reality shows like Ek Se Badhkar Ek – Jalwe Sitaron Ke gained him a lot of popularity and brought him up to the top Indian television actors. In 2008, he was the co-host of Bathroom Singer, a celebrity dance-based reality show and Naman:Ek Sansani and Ek Se Badhkar Ek – Jalwe Sitaron Ke on Zee. On NDTV Imagine, Ravi Kishan hosted the reality show Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka for two seasons. In 2010, he had worked with the film directors Shyam Benegal and Mani Ratnam. In 2012, he was a contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5. Regarding his political career, Ravi Kishan joined the Indian National Congress (INC) from the Jaunpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He had contested in the general elections in 2014 securing 4.25 per cent of the votes landing at the 6th position. In 2017, Ravi Kishan joined the BJP, leaving the Congress Party. He also serves as a politician as a Member of parliament, Lok Sabha from Gorakhpur.
