Motorola has a new Moto G Stylus 5G, and for budget-conscious artists, the built-in stylus offers some of the same features found in pricier phones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for just $399.99, or $100 less. than the previous generation.

If the $200 Moto G Stylus with 4G seems too cheap, this might be a good middle ground.

The new Moto G Stylus 5G runs the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, a nice step up from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G found in last year’s version. It’s also a big leap from the MediaTek Helio G85 found in the 4G version of the Moto G Stylus.

There’s 256GB of storage, though you can add a microSD card for up to 2TB of space.

At 6.6 inches, this year’s version has a slightly smaller screen than last year’s device. It retains the Full HD+ resolution, so it should look sharp enough. It comes with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is also found on the previous generation.

Motorola’s stylus appears functional, though the company didn’t delve too deeply into any special features or apps that will come with the phone. Previous versions had some basic note-taking apps, so we expect at least that with this year’s version.

The phone has a 50MP main camera and an 8MP multipurpose depth, macro and ultra-wide sensor at the rear. The front camera is relatively basic at 16MP, but we’ll have to test the phone to see what kind of selfies it captures.
