Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed Khera as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health on December 2, 2015, then as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue from January 2017 to August 2018, and then as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development from August 2018 to January 2021. Khera is now a member of the Public Safety and National Security Standing Committee. From September 2017 to September 2018, she was a member of the Standing Committee on Finance, and from September 2018 to September 2019, she was a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.
