KATE Middleton and her husband, Prince William, are no strangers to royal residences, with three gorgeous estates to their names.

But while the couple now live happily at their Windsor base, Adelaide Cottage, their first home surely holds lifelong memories of when their adventure was just beginning.

And for Kate, 41, and Prince William, 40, it’s rural North Wales that holds that particularly special place in their hearts, specifically the Isle of Anglesey.

That’s because the Prince and Princess of Wales, who currently share another London home, Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, as well as their country retreat, Anmer Hall, moved into a property on the Bodorgan Estate earlier. getting married in 2011.

The couple, who are now the proud parents of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, lived in a rented four-bedroom cottage before the wedding and shortly after.

Kate and William are said to have paid approximately £750 a month for the pretty country house owned by Lord and Lady Meyrick, living there for two years between 2011 and 2013.

While not much is known about the interior of the property, it was reported to have four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen, while the dining room is said to have had a traditional wood-burning fireplace.

And they certainly made the most of their time there, taking advantage of the property’s private beach access, as well as views of the surrounding Newborough Forest.

Kate and William are also reported to have enjoyed the beach views, as “you could see the water from the first floor rooms, which face the top of the premises.”

It was said that they were used as bedrooms for security guards, as they surrounded the main house, the largest on the property.

At the time, William was working as a search and rescue pilot with the RAF, while Catherine was able to mingle with the locals in the small town and nearby towns, including Bodorgan, Newborough and Malltraeth ar ol.

The modest white stone house also marked another significant moment in the couple’s relationship, as it was the place where Prince George was first brought home.

However, they only stayed there for a few weeks after welcoming their firstborn, before moving into Kensington Palace for good.

So it’s only natural that William has previously described the house, and Anglesey as a whole, as an “immensely special place” for both of them.

However, Kate has also previously opened up about some of the tougher times she’s experienced while living in the four walls of the estate off the grid, particularly as a new mom.

During a public visit to a children’s center in Cardiff, Wales, in 2020, Kate recalled feeling “isolated” and struggling because no one was around.

Kate explained: “I was talking to some of the mums, I had just had George and William was still working search and rescue, so we came here when George was a very small baby, in the middle of Anglesey.

“I was so isolated, so isolated, I didn’t have my family around me, he was doing night shifts, so if only I had a center like this at one point.”
