Mortal Kombat 1, developed by NetherRealm Studios, is the newest entry in the decades-spanning fantasy fighting franchise that helped define the genre. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the series or looking to replay, the game’s timeline reset offers a chance to enjoy the new features and story. Find out if your PC is fit to fight for the latest installment of the combat classic.

Why the hype for Mortal Kombat 1?

The upcoming game features a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by the God of Fire Liu Kang. With iconic characters reinvented, Mortal Kombat 1 lets you control new twists on Johnny Cage, Kitana, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Mileena, Raiden, Scorpion, Shang Tsung, Sub-Zero, and other familiar faces. Of course, the gore-filled deaths return as well.

A notable addition is the new game mechanic: Kameo Fighters. This feature features assist characters that provide combat aid through their unique attacks.

Here’s how it works: After selecting your main character, you choose a Kameo Fighter to join your ranks. From there, you are tasked with selecting the specific move they will employ to bolster your combat prowess. It’s too early to say how the Kameo Fighters will affect the game’s meta, but we can’t wait to see how it plays out.
