What Happened In The Bank?

An unexpected outcome emerged from a dispute between a man and employees at a Chinese bank. Reports state that following the argument, the man took millions out of his account and had the employees tally the money by hand.

The bank stated that it all began when they advised the client to wear a mask, despite the man’s claims that he did so in response to subpar treatment.

According to Business Insider, the man, who goes by the online handle “Sunwear,” shared his version of events on the Chinese social media site Weibo. 

He said that at a bank in Shanghai, he got into a fight with the security personnel and was given the “worst customer service.” He then requested that the bank count the five million renminbi ($783,000) in cash that he had taken out.

A team of tellers needed roughly two hours to complete the count.

In a statement, the bank stated that the customer’s refusal to wear a mask and comply with COVID-19 rules was the catalyst for the argument. 

Once more, Sunwear posted on Weibo to say that he had misplaced his mask that day and needed a backup. 

Furthermore, he emphasised that he never objected to wearing it.

The pictures ended up on X as well. A user uploaded the pictures to the microblogging site along with a brief description of what happened. 

“This week in Shanghai, China, a millionaire named ‘Sunwear’ took out all 5 million yuan in savings and gave the bank employees the task of counting every note. Just because it was requested that he don a face mask,” the X user stated.
