Ever wondered what drinking a few too many beers can do to your body? Well, it seems like one man is ready to find answers to his curious musings with an extraordinary experiment.
Who Is The Man Planning To Chug 2,000 Beer Pints in 200 Days?
Becoming a legend is within reach through various paths, provided one gives it their all. While some conquer ultra-marathons spanning continents, others devour staggering stacks of hot dogs.
In the case of 25-year-old Jon May from Sheffield, his journey to legendary status revolves around pints. May has set out on a mission to consume 2,000 pints in 200 days, earning himself a dedicated following on TikTok along the way.
What Is The Challenge?
At first glance, 2,000 may seem like a feasible number. Given that Brits are renowned for their love of beer, consuming approximately 400 pints annually per person, as per the OECD, the challenge might appear somewhat manageable.
For May, the idea initially sparked when he stumbled upon another individual’s online endeavour to tackle 1,000 pints within a year. “I could easily double that,” he thought to himself.
Why Did He Take On The Challenge?
From what May explains there is no scientific background to this challenge, the bloke is at it just because he can. He told Vice, “On the one hand, you’re essentially killing your liver, and on the other, you’re doing something mildly impressive.”
How Is The Challenge Going?
Originally, May planned to finish the challenge in the span of a full year but seeing his own prowess at downing pint after pint, he decided to shorten the challenge to 200 days. Now, the man is on the verge of completing his challenge. He has been live streaming his chugs and keeping count on an Excel sheet to keep things formal.
After gaining thousands of followers on social media, May has become somewhat of a legend in his local pubs in the Guildford neighbourhood. May plans to go for a scan at the doctor’s after he is done with the challenge to find out how his body is holding up. He added, “This is probably the most British thing anyone can do.”
Towards the end of this month, he will savour the fruits of his labour at a pub in Birmingham, where he is getting paid for chugging his monumental 2,000th beer pint in front of a live audience.
